STORM LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) — A Sioux City woman was arrested Saturday night following a reckless driving pursuit in Storm Lake, during which police say three young children were found unrestrained inside the vehicle.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were alerted around 9:00 p.m. to a reckless driver traveling south into the city. Police located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop near Abner Bell Road and West Milwaukee Avenue, but say the driver refused to stop and continued driving erratically.

The pursuit ended in the 400 block of East 13th Street, where officers took 24-year-old Roda Girah of Sioux City into custody. Police allege Girah showed signs of intoxication and that alcohol bottles and a THC vaping device were found inside the vehicle.

Authorities also report three children under the age of seven were riding in the vehicle without proper child safety restraints. No injuries were reported.

Girah was taken to the Buena Vista County Jail and charged with eluding, child endangerment, operating while intoxicated, and multiple additional misdemeanor offenses.

She was held on a $5,000 bond.  All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
