Storm Lake Theft Investigation Leads to Arrest in Cherokee

CHEROKEE, IA (Northwestiowanow) – A Cherokee man was arrested Tuesday night on drug-related warrants out of Buena Vista County.

According to a report from the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 38-year-old Anthony Smith around 8:00 p.m. on August 26th. Smith was wanted in connection to a theft investigation dating back more than two years.

In June of 2023, Storm Lake Police responded to a report of stolen items from Walmart. During the investigation, officers searched a suspect’s vehicle and discovered methamphetamine, which led to charges against Smith.

He now faces Possession of Methamphetamine 3rd Offense, a Class D Felony, along with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Serious Misdemeanor.
