Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Spencer and Storm Lake collided on Tuesday night for a Lakes Conference Volleyball thriller in the Fieldhouse.

Spencer started out with a 25-22 win in set 1.

Storm Lake bounced back in Set 2, holding off a late Tiger comeback to win 25-22.

The same score held in Set 3, this time with Spencer going up 2-1 with a 25-22 win, holding off a late Tornado comeback.

Storm Lake played a really hard set 4, winning 25-18. Spencer couldn’t seem to find any open floor as the Tornado back row seemed to be flying everywhere, keeping points alive, and outlasting the Tigers till they made a mistake.

With the match tied at two sets apiece, and Spencer seemingly out of gas, we went to a 5th set, where Spencer tore to a 15-11 win, taking the match 3 sets to two.

The Tornados fall to 8-17 on the year and have dropped their 7th straight as they take their first Lakes Conference loss on the season.

Spencer is now 12-15 overall and 2-0 in the Lakes. Next up on the schedule for the Tigers is the #3 ranked team in Class 3A Cherokee on the road for another Lakes Conference matchup.
