ROCK RAPIDS, IA (NorthwestIowaNow) – An early morning traffic stop in Lyon County led to citations for a Minnesota woman.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Lizbeth Barahona of Worthington, Minnesota, was pulled over around 12:05 a.m. on September 28. Deputies initiated the stop on Highway 9 after clocking her 2023 Hyundai Elantra traveling at 67 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone.

During the stop, authorities detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A consent search led to the discovery of a THC vaping device.

Barahona was cited for first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana, and for operating a nonregistered vehicle.
