SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — Firefighters in Spencer responded to a single-vehicle fire early Thursday morning.

The Spencer Fire Department says crews were dispatched just after 12:24 a.m. to the 600 block of East 19th Street on reports of a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.  About 10 minutes later, firefighters arrived to find a van completely on fire.  Crews used extinguishers and a hose line to knock down the fire and checked the vehicle for hot spots and any extension. Additional personnel were requested due to the severity of the fire.

The scene was cleared around 1:28 a.m.  No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire has not yet been released.  Six firefighters responded to the scene, including SFD 993, 900, and two Spencer Police Department officers
