Spirit Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) –There was $44,000 on the line during the Walleye Weekend tournament in Okoboji. Imagine your disappointment if you snagged a tagged fish but later found out it was ineligible for the prize money.
On Saturday, a tagged fish was brought to Stan’s Bair and Tackle … but turned out to be from the 2025 event.
And Chamber of Commerce CEO Blain Andera announced at the banquet Sunday that one of this year’s tagged walleyes was snared … but did not qualify by the time it was brought in.

Prize money is still available for anglers who bought the extended contest option.
