Worthington Man Dead After Equipment Tip Over

Spirit Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — A man from Worthington, Minnesota, has died after a construction accident in Dickinson County.

The Sheriff’s Office says it happened just after 9 A-M Tuesday in the 33-hundred block of Erie Avenue.

Authorities report 23-year-old Oliver Florencio Velasquez was operating a piece of construction equipment when it began to tip over. He tried to get out of the machine, but it landed on him.

Florencio Velasquez was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The Spirit Lake Police Department, Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance, and Spirit Lake First Responders assisted at the scene.
